About me
My name’s Nathan - Nate for short. You probably figured that out already.
I’ve carved out a rewarding career working with a mix of established artists (from New Zealand and abroad), up-and-comers and independent acts, school groups, and more.
My passion for music led me to study audio engineering after school. From there, I got my first break as a junior engineer in Auckland’s The Lab, one of the few large recording studios left in New Zealand.
I worked with a wide range of artists across a variety of genres there, including Kora, Blindspott and Nico laksa (Germany).
My time at The Lab included engineering Blindspott’s album ‘End the Silence’, supporting Swedish producers Pelle Henricsson and Eskil Lövström. I later ended up working with them in Sweden, both with my own band Take the Willing and as an engineer. It played a huge role in shaping me as a producer and engineer.
Upon return to New Zealand, I struck it out on my own. I work with a range of studios across the North Island, but I spend a lot of time in my own cozy home studio in Mount Maunganui.
In my time as a freelance writer, producer, and engineer, I’ve worked with a range of artists and groups. That includes New Zealand #1 singles with pop artist Sophie Maude, as well as songs for established acts like Kora, PNC and more. I also continue to work with a host of rock/hardcore/metal bands.
I’m interested in rewarding projects around New Zealand and further afield, and I’m always keen to work with passionate locals and up-and-comers in the Bay of Plenty.
